Before the Fall
In 1942, Friedrich Weimer's boxing abilities get him an appointment to a National Political Academy (NaPolA) - secondary schools that generate Nazi elite. Over his dad's arguments, Friedrich enrolls, seeing this as his ticket out of factory life to college and a good salary. Throughout his year in seventh column (fifth form), this innocence is changed as Friedrich experiences hazing, ruthlessness, fatality, and also the Nazi code. His friendship with Albrecht, the spartan kid of the location's guv, is main to this education and learning; an evening in the woodland searching for escaped Russian POWs brings points to a head.
